VETERANS have given budding student leaders an insight into the Anzac spirit.
Bendigo South East College student representative council members met with 14 veterans on Tuesday, principal Glen Donald said.
"It's really important for our students to get a real understanding about what real leadership is, and leadership under different circumstances," he said.
Some of the veterans would not be at Anzac services, Mr Donald said.
"Different people will reflect in different ways. I think a lot of veterans come here because it is about the next generation and making sure they understand that it is a ceremony, not a celebration," he said.
Before veterans met with student leaders over 1500 students gathered for an Anzac Day commemoration service.
