EARLIER: Police have arrested two men in Long Gully in relation to a series of incidents in the Bendigo area in recent days.
Bendigo Highway Patrol Sergeant Mick McCrann said witnesses followed a white Toyota Landcruiser up a bush track off Keenes Road on Monday morning after witnessing suspicious activity.
The driver of the Landcruiser rammed the people in their vehicle and tried to flee, but the four-wheel-drive became bogged.
Attending officers arrested a Perth man aged about 40 at the scene.
Sergeant McCrann said the Landcruiser was stolen and "had been used in a number of incidents the day before".
Police were then called to a Derwent Drive address, where a Ford stolen overnight from East Bendigo was located with the assistance of a GPS device fitted to the vehicle.
Officers surrounded the house and called out the occupant, who was arrested.
"It's fortunate in that circumstance that we've been able to find the vehicle, and we've been able to put in a cordon, no members have been injured, and we've been able to arrest one offender," Sergeant McCrann said.
Sergeant McCrann said the two men would be questioned in relation to motor vehicle thefts, burglaries and a number of rammings that had occurred in the previous 24 to 48 hours.
