Bluey is known as the oldest dog to have lived. Born in 1910, the Australian cattle dog lived for 29 years and five months.
Rochester Business Network president Glenda Nichol said it was an exciting project.
"We are already very proud to be part of the Silo Art Trail and this gives our visiting public something else to see whilst in Rochester," she said.
"Anything that is good for our town we are thrilled to be part of."
Edna Staley, a Rochester resident, remembers Bluey as her father's dog.
"Bluey was my father's dog - I am so proud this painting is going up especially at the pool where I go past every day", she said.
