IT WAS an extra-special Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade on Sunday, as new imperial dragon Dai Gum Loong made his first Easter appearance.
What made the day even more special was the appearance of the three older large dragons: Sun Loong, Dai Gum Loong's predecessor, in his last parade; Yar Loong, the night dragon; and Loong, who is now more than 100 years old.
Thousands of people lined the parade route in the city's CBD to welcome Bendigo's new dragon.
Keen spectators went down early to ensure they had a good view of the parade; some so early, in fact, they arrived the night before.
