A SPREAD of five players scoring in double figures helped the Bendigo Braves men arrest their early-season form slump in the NBL1 on Thursday night.
The Braves went into the clash against Frankston at home on the back of three-straight losses, but responded with an 88-73 win - their first victory since their season-opening triumph against Melbourne.
Scores had been locked together 42-apiece at half-time, but the Braves were able to gain the upper hand late in the third term.
The Braves closed out the third quarter with a 10-0 run over the final 2:41 to take control of the contest and lead 64-55 after what had been an arm-wrestle.
Co-captain Matt Andronicos scored seven points during the momentum-shifting run, with the Braves not surrendering the ascendancy for the remainder of the match.
In what was an even offensive spread, the Braves had Jake Cowling (19), Ray Turner (16), Andronicos (16), Matt Johnston (13) and veteran Chris Hogan (10) all score in double figures.
Johnston, who cashed in on the extra court time of nearly 25 minutes, and Cowling each knocked down four three pointers for the Braves, while Andronicos also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Import Deonte Burton combined eight points with seven rebounds and a game-high eight assists for the Braves.
With their record now at 2-3, the Braves' next assignment will be a home game against North West Tasmania on Saturday, April 27.
