"All of the teams in the league are really excited for round one and are ready to get the season underway," CVFLW chairman Norm Sheehan said.
"We now have six local community teams in the league.
"We've made it so the Bendigo Thunder now sits above our competition and acts as the key pathway destination for the girls to play senior football," Sheehan said.
"This gives the girls the opportunity to play junior and senior local football, and if they really want to test themselves further they can progress to the Thunder and onto VFLW or AFLW."
Bendigo Thunder now compete in the Melbourne-based Northern Football Netball League's senior women's division.
The CVFLW 's goal is to give females over the age of 18 an opportunity to play Australian rules football in their local region.
The league is comprised of teams from North Bendigo, Eaglehawk, Kangaroo Flat, Golden Square, Strathfieldsaye and Kyneton.
In the 2018 Thunder were the premiers of the CVFLW after a strong season, where the team defeated Strathfieldsaye in the grand final 15.12 (102) to 2.3 (15).
Over the years several Thunder players have progressed from the team into the AFLW, including Emma Grant, Kerryn Harrington and Bella Ayre.
