UPDATE 4.45pm: A City of Greater Bendigo spokesperson has confirmed the council will investigate the incident in which a gate swung open and pierced the windscreen of a moving vehicle, the driver narrowly avoiding injury.

EARLIER: A woman visiting Bendigo for a youth soccer tournament has had a lucky escape, with the windscreen of her vehicle impaled by a gate that swung out as she was leaving the venue.
The woman was leaving Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve on Sunday morning when one of the gates dislodged and swung towards her vehicle.
It hit the bonnet, punched through the windscreen and exited through the driver's side window.
The 52-year-old Parkdale woman was shaken, but not injured.
Bendigo Highway Patrol's Leading Senior Constable Brendan Keegan said the woman was "extremely lucky" to come away from the incident without injury.
Leading Senior Constable Keegan said traffic at the reserve was mildly affected for a short time.
David Watts, event manager with Australian Football Skool, also said there was not a significant impact on traffic, as most was entering the reserve while the affected vehicle had been exiting.
Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve is this weekend hosting the Boys and Girls FC tournament, a Football Victoria event organised with Australian Football Skool.
