THE merger of the North Bendigo senior and Huntly junior cricket clubs almost two decades ago has finally yielded its first Bendigo District Cricket Association premiership.
Underdogs Huntly-North Epsom decimated Golden Square with bat and ball to win the weekend's BDCA grand final by 83 runs.
After routing Square for a meagre 128 on Saturday, the Power were 2-211 when stumps were pulled 27 overs into Sunday.
The Power victory featured a five-wicket haul to Mitch Whittle and century by opener Ryan Grundy.
Taylor-Walsh medallist Whittle at one stage had 5-0 before finishing with 5-22, while Grundy made an unbeaten 100.
Square's only meaningful contributor was a gallant Ryan Hartley, who batted through the debacle of an innings for 87 not out.
