This year marks the 49th staging of the four-day regional bowls tournament.
The top country bowlers will compete in both pairs and fours categories during Country Week, which has attracted more than 700 bowlers from outside of Bendigo.
Eleven bowls clubs throughout the city will play host to the tournament, which is being coordinated by Bendigo Bowls Club's Geoff Briggs.
"Country Week is certainly the biggest event of its type in the state," Briggs said.
"It's a wonderful competition for all of the clubs and fantastic for the whole city."
Country Week was first held in 1970 and was created by Bendigo sporting legend Herbert 'Herb' Hesse.
The competition is played in both pairs and fours format.
The first two days will include pairs events, with the winners of each section to play finals matches on Wednesday evening.
Fours competition will commence on Wednesday and conclude with finals on Thursday evening.
It may be one of biggest country competitions of the year, but it also serves another purpose to the bowls community.
"It's a wonderful thing - it's just as important as a social event as it is as a bowls event," Briggs said
