A STELLAR debut season with bat and ball for Emu Creek has landed captain Todd Brown the No.1 ranking in the Addy's Emu Valley Cricket Association Most Valuable Player for 2018-19.
Brown has led a stunning revival from the Emus, who have gone from having no division one team last season to making an immediate return to the finals.
Using a formula of 1 run = 1 point; 1 wicket = 20 points; 1 catch = 10 points; and a run out/stumping = 15 points, Brown has topped the rankings with a total of 1121.
The all-rounder, who previously played at Eaglehawk, combined 501 runs with 28 wickets and six catches.
Brown's 501 runs featured back-to-back centuries against Mandurang (103 n.o.) and California Gully (130) in rounds nine and 10.
Earlier, Brown got his season away to a flyer with 50, 6-28 and one catch - a total of 180 points - in the Emus' opening game win against Marong.
Brown was one of only three players to score more than 1000 points.
Spring Gully's Rhys Webb - last year's No.1 player - racked up 1089 points, while Brown's team-mate, Luke Bennett, amassed 1032.
Webb is the competition's leading run-scorer with 729 and Bennett the top wicket-taker with 33, which includes the season's only 10-wicket match when he took 11-55 against West Bendigo in round three.
A total of 188 players figured in the MVP points during the home and away season, while each team has at least five in the top 50.
