Eight artists have been carefully crafting murals in the centre of Rochester this week.
The fifth Rochester Mural Festival has had increased interest this year since the town unveiled its silo art mural last year.
Festival committee member Liz Dellar said 13 artists applied for the eight available spot in town.
"We get more each year, artists know about Rochester now and (the festival) draws them in," she said.
"We had artists from Western Australia and Queensland painting and some local ones from Bendigo, Newstead and Melbourne."
This year's works have a theme of "Our Country Life" and will be judged on Saturday with an outright winner, highly commended and people's choice award.
As well as the large mural, there is an exhibition of small murals and artworks in the Rochester Court House.
"People can purchase artworks there including the large mural on display in the town," Ms Dellar said. "The large murals will be on display for 12 months."
The Rochester Mural Festival is on this weekend.
