Jaawaa Morgan, 22, pleaded guilty in October to aggravated home invasion, three counts of intentionally causing injury, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Mr Morgan will serve three years and five months before he is eligible to apply for parole.
County Court Judge Lisa Hannan told the court the offending had very real consequences for members of the community.
"We all have a right to the safety and sanctuary of our homes," she said. "A right which you and your co-offenders significantly compromised."
But Judge Hannan told the court, Mr Morgan's early plea of guilty demonstrated remorse.
"You do not have a significant criminal history," she said.
"You are still a young man and the community must maintain a real interest in your rehabilitation as that is the community's best protection from a repetition of this type of offending in the future," she said.
The court was told that on the night of February 24, 2017, five males wearing dark facial coverings and clothing entered a Laurie Court home through an unlocked door.
Their alleged target was a 20-year-old male, who was at home with his mother and stepfather.
The court heard the males assaulted the young man with weapons, including metal bars and a baseball bat.
He was also tasered in the neck and kicked to the face, suffering multiple injuries which led to him spending two days in hospital. His stepfather was also injured.
The young man told police he knew some of the offenders, naming Mr Morgan and two co-accused.
Forensic evidence linked Mr Morgan to the scene and a firearm found there.
Judge Hannan sentenced Mr Morgan to four years in prison for the charge of aggravated home invasion.
He received an accumulated sentence of 14 months for the three counts of intentionally causing injury, and six months in prison for the charge of being in possession of an unregistered firearm.
