Now in its 16th year, the triathlon will host around 300 competitors of all ages and abilities who will take on one of the event’s four courses.
Bridgewater Triathlon organiser Claire Harrison said it required months of preparation and support from local businesses to operate the triathlon.
“We’re so lucky to have such a solid community base in Bridgewater,” Harrison said.
“It’s a non-competitive family-friendly event with athletes of all skill levels.
“It’s always a really fun day, come down to Bridgewater and give it a go with your family.”
The Marong SES will patrol the swimming leg, with two kayaks present on the water to assist any competitors.
Bryan Ryan was one of the founders of the event, and recalled how the triathlon had grown since its inception 16 years ago.
“I still remember the first time we held the triathlon, we had around 20 people competing, but this weekend we’re expecting around 300,” Ryan laughed.
“Bridgewater is a great location for the triathlon because the Loddon River is a major draw-card.”
All money raised at the event will be used to support the Bridgewater Football Netball Club.
The organisers will be giving away $1000 to the group registered with the most triathlons entries to a charity of their choice.
Competitors have been asked to sign in 45 minutes before their race commencement time and to be on the starting line 10 minutes prior to the race start for an event briefing.
Registrations close at 12pm Saturday February 2. A $5 late fee will be applied to all late entries.
The forecast for Sunday is 38 degrees, therefore numerous water drinking stations will be in operation at the triathlon.
