THE Bendigo District Cricket Association is on heat watch ahead of this Sunday’s Keck-Findlay Shield one-day final between Golden Square and White Hills.
Square and the Demons are scheduled to play for the one-day title in a day-night match at the QEO.
However, a forecast top of 41 degrees for Sunday has the BDCA facing the prospect of calling the game off given the association’s heat policy is for play to be abandoned if the forecast is for 40 or more.
“Sunday could be a problem for the one-day final,” BDCA president Wayne Walsh said on Wednesday.
“If the weather remains forecast for 41 degrees on Sunday then we will have to call the game off as per the BDCA heat policy rules.”
The BDCA’s one-day final between Bendigo and Golden Square last year ended in a washed out draw.
Bendigo won the Keck-Findlay Shield courtesy of being the higher-ranked one-day team.
This year Golden Square is the higher-ranked team.
