An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said two females aged in their 30s were airlifted the Alfred and Royal Melbourne hospitals in Melbourne.
One had injuries to her chest and pelvic region and was in a serious but stable condition.
The other had abdominal and back injuries and was in a serious but stable condition.
Three people were also transported by paramedics to Bendigo hospital.
One female in her 20s had head injuries and was in a serious but stable condition.
Another female in her 20s had injuries to her hip and chest but was s table.
A male in his late teens had facial injuries and was in a stable condition.
EARLIER: Paramedics are assessing five people after two cars crashing on the Toolleen-Cornella Road near the Toolleen Hotel this afternoon.
No one was trapped as a result of the crash but one of the vehicles was reported to have smoke coming from it.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics on scene believed three people would need to be transported to hospital.
“Paramedics are assessing five people with three having injuries,” the spokesman said.
“The first crews on scene said that possibly three people will need transport (to hospital).
The spokesman reported that a female in her 30s had head and should injuries, a female in her 20s had chest and leg injuries and another person in their 40s had chest injuries.
A fourth patient also had back complaints following the crash.
A CFA spokeswoman said emergency crews were called to the scene at 2.20pm.
Three CFA units are currently on scene along with police and SES.
