Police have made at least 18 arrests at the Rainbow Serpent Festival since music fans arrived in Lexton on Friday.

As part of the festival, additional resources across the Western region and Operations Response Unit have been assisting local police working around clock to keep people safe.
Four people were remanded and will appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday including a 25-year-old French National woman arrested for drug trafficking and other drug-related offences; a 19-year-old man charged with trafficking a drug of dependence; a 21-year-old Balwyn man charged with drug-related offences; and a 24-year-old Edithvale man arrested in relation to drug offences.
Police also arrested a 22-year-old Williamstown man in relation to drug possession. He was interviewed and has been released pending further enquiries.
A 27-year-old Northcote man appeared at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Friday in relation to drug trafficking offences. He was issued with a Community Corrections Order.
A 17-year-old Balwyn North teen was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. He was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
Ballarat Local Area Commander Inspector Dan Davison said a further 11 offenders were arrested for drug possession and received either cannabis cautions or drug diversions.
“Those engaging in illicit activity can expect to be charged and evicted from the event,” he said.
“We will continue to have a high visible presence that will continue to detect and deter any illegal activity.”
Passive Alert Detection (PAD) dogs will also be searching people and vehicles during the festival and police patrols will be also be on-hand targeting anti-social behaviour.
Foot patrols and highway patrol officers will be on hand to assist crowds leaving the event when it concludes on Monday.
