Sulayman Durbridge, 26, pleaded guilty to the offence in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court.
Durbridge was stopped by police in Allen Street, Kyabram, on the morning of August 2 last year.
A preliminary oral fluid test indicated the presence of an illicit substance, and Durbridge gave another oral fluid sample.
Later analysis detected the presence of cannabis in the sample.
More court news:
Durbridge held a probationary licence at the time.
The court heard Durbridge had a prior conviction for drink-driving, meaning the mandatory time off the road increased from six months to 12 months.
Durbridge also had prior convictions for driving while disqualified.
Magistrate Patrick Southey convicted Durbridge and fined him $600. His licence was also cancelled and disqualified for 12 months.
Mr Southey warned Durbridge that if he were found driving in that time, he would face jail time.
