Northern Rivers will play the Southern Pioneers in Friday’s Youth Premier League under-18 grand final at the Junction Oval.
Northern Rivers earned its place in the grand final by winning its sixth-straight match on Thursday morning.
The round seven game in the afternoon against Highlanders was a dead rubber and Northern Rivers went down by 34 runs.
The round six win against the Spirit was built around a good bowling performance.
Scott Morris (3-12) and Todd Murphy (2-7) restricted the Spirit to 9-81.
James Vlaeminck (24), Todd Murphy (18) and Nick Gladman (15 not out) saw the Rivers over the line for the loss of seven wickets.
Highlanders posted 5-136 before bowling out Northern Rivers for 102.
Braydon Vaz (33 off 34 balls) was the only batsman to show any form.
Friday’s opponent the Pioneers also won six of their seven preliminary round matches.
