The average response time in the shire was 22 minutes 31 seconds, 43 seconds quicker than the previous year.
Ambulance Victoria’s acting regional director for Loddon Mallee Andy Roughton said response times had steadily improved in the Loddon over recent years.
“Providing emergency response to a relatively small population over a large geographic area is a challenge in Loddon and in similar communities across the state,” Mr Roughton said.
“We are committed to continued improvement not only in in response times but also in the care we provide our patients and in building community resilience.”
Ambulance Victoria has branches in Inglewood, Boort, Wedderburn, and a paramedic community support coordinator.
Paramedics in the Loddon Shire responded to 427 Code 1 situations in 2017-18.
Across Victoria ambulance response times improved in 2017-18. According to Ambulance Victoria’s annual report 81.1 percent of Code 1 response times were less than 15 minutes. This is an increase of 3.7 percent, from 78.3 percent in 2016-17 financial year.
In the City of Greater Bendigo ambulance responded to 80.2 percent of Code 1 calls within 15 minutes, with an average response time of 11.58 minutes.
Code 1 response times in the Macedon Ranges and the Central Goldfields were comparable. In the Macedon Ranges 63.1 percent of responses took place within 15 minutes, in the Central Goldfields it was 64.1 percent.
A total of 50.5 percent of Code 1 response times in Mount Alexander were within 15 minutes.
