The old station had been modified for police use about 30 years ago, with an extension about ten years ago.
The new station also sits that bit closer into the centre of Wedderburn.
“We needed it,” Acting Sergeant Becker said.
“It makes our job a lot easier knowing that we’ve got the space to fit in everything you need to fit in.
“It makes us feel like we’re part of the town now.”
The Wedderburn station is staffed 16 hours a day 7 days a week.
Depending on staffing at the one-person stations, its remit can stretch from Pyramid Hill to Tarnagulla, covering Bridgewater, Serpentine and Boort.
The station has been build based on the operational needs of police in the area, taking into account the safety of police officers.
It makes us feel like we’re part of the town now.
- Acting Sergeant Dave Becker
Its build took four months.
Policing essentials like a cell and secure parking are all included in the new facility.
