GovHub will bring more people and activity
The Andrews Labor Government has been proud to make big investments in Bendigo. The completion of our new Bendigo Hospital, the redevelopment of Bendigo TAFE campus at McRae Street, Bendigo GovHub, upgrades to road, rail and local schools.

At the recent State election we built on this by committing to deliver a new Day Rehabilitation Centre at Bendigo Health, new Bendigo Law Courts, three new train stations, and more school upgrades. All of these projects bring jobs during construction, and long term benefit through the services that are delivered from these new projects.
Michael McKenzie (“It is time for a stand on imbalanced GovHub funding| Your Say”, Bendigo Advertiser, December 6) makes claims about the proposed GovHub. The Gov Hub will bring more people and activity into the heart of Bendigo. That is why the State Government has committed $16m. Mr McKenzie will also know the Liberal/Nationals opposed any major development for Bendigo at the election, refusing to commit to our planned day rehabilitation centre, new courts, GovHub, TAFE projects and train stations. The election is now over and our Government is determined to get on delivering the program we outlined to Bendigo and Victoria.
I look forward to continuing the building program and improving services for the Bendigo community.
Jacinta Allan MP, Member for Bendigo East
Grass needs slashing
With summer here now and the constant reminder for all residents to prepare their properties for the hot weather expected to arrive then maybe who ever is responsible for slashing the grass along the Calder Highway could also heed this warning. Travelling along the Calder Highway I particularly noticed that around Kyneton the grass is over one metre tall, very dry and all it would take to ignite would be just one cigarette butt and off it would go. The centre plantation appears to be a problem also with very few entering points for fire trucks.

The new “Marxist’ theories
I read with great interest the letter from Helen Leach in Tuesday’s Advertiser (“Climate change rallies ‘should alarm parents’”, Bendigo Advertiser). I learnt a lot from that letter – namely that climate change, anti-bullying campaigns and sex education are Marxist theories. I wish Mr Marx would stop theorising and get on with whatever job he does during working hours.
Keep the letters coming Ms Leach as I obviously have a lot more to learn.

We need an election ASAP
Struth, if the “ordinary person” showed the same ineptitude of skills in their job as the present Government, the boss would show you the door in double-quick time.
Now lets see, Braddon, Longman, Perth, Freemantle, Wentworth, and a wipeout in Victoria. Nothing to see here apparently. Nope. At the present time, and little that is happening shows it is going to change, the Liberal brand is about as popular as a bees nest in your underpants. And we all know how long that would last?
Times to extinguish the problem – with an election ASAP.
