Christmas tree co-ordinator Ken Morrison said it was a busy first weekend.
“We didn’t think we were going to sell too many and suddenly people just came. We sold nearly 200 the first weekend and were sold out by 1pm Sunday,” he said.
More stock will arrive on Thursday with many people eager to ensure their home smells like Christmas.
“It’s interesting, we sold a lot of stands, which indicates it’s their first tree,” Mr Morrison said.
The trees come from Daylesford as well as Miner’s Rest near Ballarat.
“We have tried to keep prices at $50 but the wholesale price went up so we have gone to $60,” Mr Morrison said. “But people weren’t worried about that, they wanted a good tree and didn’t mind paying a bit more.”
Profits from the tree sale go to local youth organisations. More trees will be for sale in Mundy Street on Thursday from 4pm.
