Crowds gathered to watch the Christmas tree light up in Rosalind Park on Friday night.
Attendees enjoyed a mild summery night, Christmas carols from Sherri Parry and a taste of the fare at the Bendigo Food Truck Festival.
Circus activities, table tennis, face painting and roving characters – including a reindeer or two – kept kids entertained on the night.
The evening marked the start of council’s Summer in the Parks program which will see a range of free and low cost events and activities take place in Bendigo’s parks.
Community Christmas carols will cater to those looking to enjoy more of the seasonal spirit, in Maiden Gully Recreation Reserve, Axedale Park, Canterbury Park Gardens, Heathcote Barracks Reserve and at Rosalind Park.
After the big December-day there’ll be outdoor cinema screenings and live music.
If you’re looking to counterbalance your Christmas indulgence, salsa, fitness sessions and Parkrun will be running throughout summer.
