Half of the trucks at this year’s Bendigo Food Truck Festival will be new additions.
The festival takes place this weekend and director Jayden Donaldson said among the new additions was local business Flame Tree Pizza.
“We’ve got two local trucks this year. We were looking to get as many as we could and we did speak in one way or another to all available options around Bendigo,” he said.
The second local truck is Soul M8s.
There were various reasons why others could not be available, Mr Donaldson said, including that they were not equipped for the demands of the festival.
Nine new trucks are set to take part this year, with a total of 16 or 17 available depending on the day.
Based on last year’s ticket sales and a festival exit survey, organisers estimated 1500 to 2000 people came from post codes outside of Bendigo.
Everyone who helped put the festival on were locals, including 25 local companies.
“So we don’t outsource anything outside Bendigo,” Mr Donaldson said.
The Bendigo Food Truck Festival begins on Friday evening and continues from noon on Saturday and Sunday through to 11.30pm.
As well gourmet food trucks, there will be live music throughout the festival.
Entry costs $5, with children under 16-years-of-age entering free of charge.
