The Bendigo Caravan and Camping Leisurefest begins today and runs until Sunday with a huge range of tents, motor homes, caravans and accessories on display.
Caravan Industry Association of Victoria chief executive Rob Lucas said its was the Bendigo event’s 18th year, showing that camping is as popular as ever.
“The original show was quite small but now we are the largest regional caravan show in Victoria,” he said.
“It’s well attended by exhibitors but is also a favourite of outdoors enthusiasts.

“The outdoors industry itself has grown considerably in the last 10 to 15 years. Sure, the equipment is different but the concept of great outdoors, exploring and seeing things is the same.
“That sense of freedom appeals for so many people.”
Mr Lucas said weather would not hinder the Bendigo leisurefest.
“Usually it is the heat that keeps people away more than rain,” he said. “We’re an outdoor industry, so little bit of rain won’t stop us.”
