NORTHERN Rivers will battle Gippsland Pride in the final of the Victorian Country Cricket League’s Dukes under-21 competition.
Northern Rivers finished on top of the North Group by winning both its matches against North East Country and Mallee Murray.
Golden Square’s Jake Higgins is one of the co-coaches of the team along with James Stokes, with the side having featured Joel Murphy (Sandhurst), Daniel Clohesy (Strathdale-Maristians), Will Gadsden (Sandhurst), Jack Neylon (Strathdale-Maristians), Dylan Klemm (Kangaroo Flat) and Brendon Archbold (Eaglehawk).
Last Sunday’s 94-run victory over Mallee Murray at Swan Hill featured a superb 137 off 149 to opener Murphy, with he and Neylon (73) putting on 166 for the second wicket in Northern Rivers’ massive total of 9-316 off its 50 overs.
The final between Northern Rivers and Gippsland Pride will be played at Essendon’s Windy Hill from 10.30am on Sunday, December 2.
