EARLY breakthroughs for Maiden Gully will be vital if it’s to inflict Sedgwick’s first loss of the Emu Valley Cricket Association season on Saturday.
The Lions have a tally of 7-201 to defend at home against the powerful Sedgwick batting line-up.
The Rams have made scores of 5-323 and 8-240 in their opening two games and have Greg Thomas (193.0), stalwart Scott McKenzie (67.0) and Simon Marwood (61.0) with early season batting averages above 50.
Meanwhile, Mandurang should get a weekend of celebrations off to a winning start in its match against Emu Creek.
The Rangas are 4-145 in reply to the Emus’ 159, with the match to be followed by the launch of the club’s new history book and a 30-year division one premiership reunion at Pearce Reserve from 7pm.
