Made up of anywhere between six and eight members, the Seduceaphones started life at Bendigo Senior Secondary College before heading to Melbourne this year.
They have played at some of Bendigo’s biggest community events including the opening of Ulumbarra Theatre, regularly at the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival, the famed Castlemaine State Festival and, most recently, on the second floor of the Rosalind Park poppet head.
“It was wild being in the belly of the poppet head with those projections. It was a really amazing project,” trombone player Aryo Hall said
“My parents are right into community and cultural events. So growing up with that attitude made me want to do as many community events as possible.”
The line-up has slightly changed since the band first formed but their unique Balkan brass band fusion remains.
“When we formed, most of us were heading to an orchestra,” Hall said.
“So we mixed it up and tried something different, not as a distraction but for something to give us contrast to what we were studying. It changed a lot of our (musical) career pathways.”
The determination to try something new has worked with the Seduceaphones slated to play in “the village” at Falls Festival in Lorne.
Falls Festival will also feature Vance Joy, Toto, Dizzee Rascal, Amy Shark, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Hilltop Hoods.
‘It’s perfect for us. The guys that organise (Falls) saw us playing and said we should be a part of (this year),” Hall said.
Following Falls Festival, the Seduceaphones will release their first album in February.
“It’s something that has been on our mind for a while and we’re finally at a point where we have enough material to put out an album that is interesting but is also quite tight and defines the Seducaphone sound,” Hall said.
“We have already got a couple of garage recordings up on Soundcloud.”
The Seduceaphones play at the Rifle Brigade on Sunday at 6.30pm.
