Fire danger period will begin in the two councils on Monday November 12 at 1am. Historically the fire danger period has begun in each during December.
Council areas throughout the CFA’s District 02 have entered the fire danger period historically early this year.
Bendigo, Loddon and Campaspe’s fire danger period began three weeks earlier than normal, while Mount Alexander’s began a full month earlier than average.
District Two operations manager Bill Johnstone has attributed the early starts to low winter rainfall, and predicted warm dry conditions over the coming months.
The CFA have urged residents of Central Goldfields and the Macedon Ranges to use the next few days to clean up their properties.
During the fire danger period fires may not be lit in the open are without a permit from the CFA or a municipal fire prevention officer.
