The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting that temperatures will climb during Tuesday and Wednesday, culminating in a scorcher on Thursday before a cool change on Friday.
Fire danger on the day is likely to be high, and residents should pay attention to their surroundings, the CFA have warned.
CFA Operations Officer for District Two Steve Pitcher warned that warm temperatures and dry winds mean any fires that began could be difficult to control.
“The risks are heightened in relation to fires or grass or bush fires,” Mr Pitcher said.
“The available fuels have dried out and they’ll readily burn if ignited or given an ignition source.”
He urged community members to make an effort to reduce the risk of fires igniting.
Mr Pitcher urged people to be prepared for fire, and stay on top of emergency messaging.
Friday’s cool change may bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
BoM has forecast possible spot rainfall totals of 10-25 millimetres through central and eastern Victoria.
