James Parrett won the $70,000 award on Monday, with his circular metal piece - called M-fortysix - to be displayed permanently harbourside at Headland Park.
Up to 500,000 people are expected to attend the exhibition on the Bondi to Tamarama walk, now in its 22nd year.
