Leach’s performance ‘most credible’ in council poll
The Bendigo Advertiser news story of October 18, Democratic Labour Party names former Bendigo Councillor Helen Leach as 2018 Bendigo East Candidate, used the number of first preference votes cast for the three successful candidates in the 2016 Eppalock Ward council election as a comparison to the votes and percentage received by Helen Leach.

The story implied Helen Leach lacks support.
Helen Leach's performance in the 2016 Council elections was very credible.
Helen and Mark Weragoda were two of the three former councillors who re-contested Eppalock.
There were ten candidates, some well known, with money and campaign teams behind them, plus a Greens candidate.
It was obvious George Flack, Margaret O'Rourke and Yvonne Wrigglesworth were most likely to be elected. As they were.
What few people are aware of, is that Margaret O'Rourke was the third and final councillor elected. Finishing ahead of Colin Carrington who received 2,070 votes, (10.55 per cent) “out of the pool”.
That Helen Leach received 8.64 per cent of the valid votes, compared to the other re-contesting candidate Mark Weragoda who only managed 4.86 per cent clearly indicates Helen’s performance was most credible.
I have known Helen Leach for many years. Helen is a Christian of high ethics and integrity, who listens to what people are saying, and represents them if she is in a position to do so.

Wentworth warning
A warning to all major parties after last weekends Wentworth byelection where there was a big swing away from the major parties towards the independent candidate. And a similar outcome in the seat of Mayo went to an independent.
People are sick and tired of the major parties over the last five years, especially this Government’s inaction on proper policy decisions being made in the best interest of the nation and the most disgraceful act of cancelling parliament to sort out their own positions of power at our expense.
A government acting in its own self interests, the back stabbing by a couple of senior party figures assuring Malcom Turnbull he had their support – blind Freddy could see through their act.
We still have a divided government, a leader who has crumbled to the right-wing extremist, a government skeptical about climate change (and no policy on it either) and squawking about high electricity prices.

One must remember that it was this government that got rid of the carbon tax and since then prices have sky rocketed.
To all major parties, you need to start talking and listening to your faithful followers and the everyday person on the street. Forget the big dollar promises get back to real topics that effect the majority of our nation. These are employment (real jobs), housing, cost of living, real wages, health, education, aged care and support for our farming industry (get rid of these Free Trade Agreements that do little to support our farming industry).
There is a fair chance that Prime Minister “Scomo” Morrison won’t be renewable after the next federal election.
