However, V/Line said previously communicated service changes were still in effect.
EARLIER: DEFER all non-essential travel, V/Line has advised passengers on the Bendigo line following a signal fault at Sunshine station this afternoon.
The regional public transport operator said it was experiencing ‘extreme difficulty in sourcing coaches’.
“Customers are asked to source alternative transport for the remainder of the evening and defer all non-essential travel,” V/Line said.
“V/Line apologises for the inconvenience caused to our commuters this afternoon.
“We are working to rectify the issue as quickly as possible.”
A number of trains on the Bendigo line have been cancelled.
The 16:25 Southern Cross - Epsom service and the 18:35 Epsom - Southern Cross service have been reinstated and are expected to run.
Similar advice was issued for both the Ballarat and Geelong lines, which were also affected by the signal fault.
PTV has advised it might take passengers up to an hour longer than usual to reach their destinations.
