Roger Bird got the ball rolling with a victory in Tuesday’s three to five handicap singles event ahead of Bendigo’s Jo Bury, while Bill Wallace won the six to 20 handicap on Thursday in front of Belmont visitor Paula Hollier.
Maldon’s Bridie O’Reilly and Stephen Templeton combined to win Wednesday’s doubles event, ahead of club-mates Sandy Noble and Tina Fratta.
Bird, who travels from Maryborough to each Saturday play with Quarry Hill, and Wallace’s dual victories capped a successful few weeks for the Quarry Hill club, with two members winning titles at the Northern District-hosted Festival of Croquet last month.
Ruth Iser won the C-grade golf croquet, while Ramona Rawlings was victorious in D-grade.
Quarry Hill club president Maree Wallace said a great time was had by all who participated in the tournament.
“We had a couple of players pull out at the last minute, but it went very well,” she said.
“We had freezing cold winds on the Tuesday and Wednesday, but it didn’t deter anyone.”
The tournament was followed by a come and try day on Saturday as part of Seniors Week, with about 10 players being introduced to the sport.
