So when he heard Areej Masoud, a Palestinian Christian was visiting Australia for a speaking tour, he asked if Bendigo could be included.
It will be the only regional Victorian city she visits during the tour.
“All we hear is the violence, clashes between Israeli troupes and Palestinians, but we don’t often hear the backstory, why that conflict is taking place and living conditions Palestinians are experiencing,” Mr Taylor said.
“The way the media portrays the violence in the Gaza Strip and Israel between Palestinians and Israelis is just one side of the picture.”
Ms Masoud works at Bethlehem Bible College. She will speak on the situation people who live in Palestine face.
Ms Masoud will speak at St Matthew’s Church in Long Gully on Tuesday October 9, from 7.30pm-9pm.
