The festival marks a time when Chinese people return home to come together with family and friends, celebrate harmonious relationships, and hope for longevity and prosperity in the future.
Children opened the Bendigo Chinese Association’s annual celebrations bobbing along with a parade of handmade Chinese lanterns.
Gwong Loong, the Association’s newest parade dragon, took pride of place on the night.
The dragon accompanied the Flight of the Phoenix which began performances symbolising harmonious relationships.
This began Lion Dance and traditional Chinese Dance performances, supported by the Karen Bhuddist Dhamma Dhutta Foundation.
