The festival strutted onto the international music scene in September 2013, winning critical praise from around the world and delivering festival and broadcast audiences a visceral experience. With an emphasis on premiere or rarely-performed long-form works, BIFEM platforms virtuosity in musicianship and innovation in composition, bringing the very best contemporary musicians and composers from around the world to Bendigo for the festival weekend.
This year the BIFEM Sound Gallery returns to Bendigo, finding a new home with venue partner La Trobe Art Institute. The Sound Gallery is a dedicated hi-fidelity surround space showcasing acousmatic works from all around the world.
The fourth iteration of this special initiative is curated by long-time BIFEM collaborator, the Argentinian-born, Paris-based composer Fernando Garnero.
In 2018 the Sound Gallery will run for a full week, providing greater access for audiences to experience the depth and range of this exceptional program of electronic music.
The BIFEM Sound Gallery is open 10am to 5pm daily, Thursday 6 September – Tuesday 11 September 2018, La Trobe Art Institute, 121 View Street, Bendigo. Entry is free.
