Golden Square had been on the longest run of consecutive finals appearances, having finished in the BFNL top five every year since 2005 before this season’s sixth-place.
Behind Square, what had been the next longest sequence of playing in the finals – Bridgewater – also came to a halt this year, with the Mean Machine finishing outside the LVFNL top five for the first time since 2006.
That leaves Sandhurst and North Bendigo carrying the mantle as the clubs now with the longest run of finals appearances.
Both are playing finals for the ninth year in a row in what was a run that began in 2010.
