Private homes, architecturally significant structures, and commercial and civic buildings are expected to be among the 20-25 buildings in the inaugural Open House Bendigo program.
A series of talks and public programs are also expected to be announced at the official launch in late September, including the opportunity to discuss the city’s future.
Mayor Margaret O’Rourke said the City of Greater Bendigo was delighted to be hosting the event, which is scheduled to take place on the weekend of October 27-28.
“Bendigo has some very beautiful and interesting architecture that will be wonderful to share with visitors and residents alike,” Cr O’Rourke said.
She said Open House had become a much-loved event in Melbourne and Ballarat.
Open House Melbourne launched its first regional program in Ballarat last year, subsequently committing to a regional program annually throughout Victoria.
The Open House model started 25 years ago in London.
