CSIRO senior research scientist Dr Kieren Moffat says changing consumer purchasing habits were having an impact on the industry, with one of the project’s aims to better understand the drivers of change.
More than 5000 Australians will be surveyed, with interested community members invited to have their say.
Australian Eggs managing director Rowan McMonnies says the industry-owned research organisation is going into the process with the belief the information to emerge from the study will better place its members to develop sustainable futures for their businesses.
“We want to get on the front foot with this because if you don’t listen to the public you can very quickly get out of step with community expectations,” Mr McMonnies says.
The survey will be open until August 31.
