A man has been arrested following a burglary at a jewellery store in Eaglehawk on Monday morning.

Police have been told a man armed with an axe broke into a store on High streets about 6:30am.
The man was disturbed by a passer-by who chased him, before he was arrested by police on a laneway behind High Street.
The 37 year old Eaglehawk man was taken to hospital for injuries he sustained while trying to run away. Police are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding this.
The man will be interviewed at a later time. A police investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
