Improved access to toilets and change rooms at the historic precinct in the heart of the town is now officially open.
Senator Jane Hume said the improvements will enhance the public appeal of the showgrounds, particularly among local sportswomen.
“Thanks to this great project, the showgrounds are now equipped with appropriate female facilities, which will encourage participation in a range of sports by local women and girls,” Senator Hume said.
Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the improvements will provide a more welcoming environment for all users of the Kyneton Showgrounds.
“This project has given the female amenities at the showgrounds a much needed facelift, as well as installing new facilities such as change rooms for female umpires and a unisex disabled toilet,” Dr McVeigh said.
The project was jointly funded with the Coalition Government investing $250,000 and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council providing $360,000.
