A CALIFORNIA Gully man who allegedly attempted to procure a child under 16 online for sexual activity has faced court in Bendigo.

Richard Dean, 45, appeared in court on Monday charged with using a carriage service to solicit child exploitation material and attempting to procure a child for sexual activity.
He was also charged with using a carriage service to transmit three separate images of his genitals to a child he knew was under 16.
Dean was arrested during raids by the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team on Wednesday.
He remains on bail and will next appear in court on September 19.
A Kyabram man was also arrested and charged following the raids on Wednesday.
Jamie Underwood, 48, was charged with transmitting indecent communications and causing child exploitation material to be transmitted.
He was also bailed until September 19.
