UPDATE 3.40pm: A CRIME scene remains in place at Bealiba, where police said a fire caused extensive damage to an unoccupied house overnight.
Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the fire, which occurred at a weatherboard house in Davies Street shortly after 11pm yesterday.
An arson chemist is expected to attend the scene tomorrow to determine the cause of the fire.

EARLIER: FIRE investigators have been called to the scene of a house fire west of Bendigo overnight.
Firefighters were called to a Davies Street address in Bealiba about 11.20pm yesterday following reports a house, which was believed to have been vacant, was alight.
A CFA spokesperson said the single story weatherboard house became fully involved in fire within 30 minutes.
Police were requested to attend and fire investigators were arranged for the morning.
Emergency services are treating the fire as suspicious.
