All through winter, people can drop into the library and knit or crochet warm goods to give to people who going through a tough time.
It is the first time Eaglehawk Library has run the initiative.
Library services officer Shae Hellstedt said the library wanted to engage its community members in an activity they not only enjoyed, but gave them something to share with others in need.
“We have got an absolutely beautiful little community out here,” Ms Hellstedt said.
She said the project was met with a great response – “better than expected” – with the library starting to run out of space with the items already made.
So far, items have included baby blankets, beanies and scarves.
The goods will be distributed to people in need throughout winter via Eaglehawk Community House and other similar organisations.
One generous person has donated wool for people to use, or they can use their own.
Participants can also do their craft in the library or go home and drop off their creations later.
Eaglehawk Library is open 10am to 5pm on Tuesday, and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
