“If we’re lucky enough to get to sleep we are woken in the early hours of the morning by the constant use of engine brakes when trucks enter the rest area,” Mrs Comini said.
“Then they flog their vehicles to get back onto the highway when they exit.”
Her home faces the Calder Highway’s north-bound rest stop and Mrs Comini has launched an online petition calling for VicRoads to intervene.
Mrs Comini believed a sound deflecting wall should be built along the frontage of her property, as well as on the rest stop side of the highway.
“Or VicRoads could buy us out. We don’t care. We want to live in peace,” she said.
Mr and Mrs Comini have been lobbying VicRoads and politicians for years and said problems have become worse since a service station was opened at the rest stop two years ago.
The rest stop, which has been open for 13 years, is close to the soon-to-be-refurbished Jock Comini Rest Area, where neighbours are in their own dispute with VicRoads about trucks and sound barriers.

There too, residents want VicRoads to install barriers to dampen sound from trucks using brakes.
Mrs Comini has lined the window of a bedroom with bubble wrap, though even then she struggles to sleep.
It had become so bad Mrs Comini said she is forced to take medication. Her teeth need work, but her dentist believes it’s pointless until she is no longer so stressed by the road noise.
VicRoads did not disclose information on individual cases, but northern region director Brian Westley said the organisation was looking into noise management in the Ravenswood area by carrying out independent noise monitoring over the coming months.
“We'll continue working with residents on the outcome of those results,” he said.
The assessment will track noise from the Ravenswood interchange to Fogertys Gap Road, an area encompassing both rest stops.
