Wright, who now lives in Townsville, has been selected in Australia’s wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby teams.
The 50-year-old joined the Australian Army in 1986 and was later medically discharged following a knee injury in 2003 from a training accident.
Wright, also an ex-police officer, later became a paraplegic following a motorcycle accident.
