The Hawks claimed a valuable three points in Sunday’s clash at Truscott Reserve, while the Blues had to be content to share the points with Shepparton South after a nil-all draw.
A 73rd minute goal to Eaglehawk’s Nathan Hamblin broke a deadlock and gave the Hawks their seventh win from nine matches played.
An away match this weekend against Moama-Echuca Border Raiders awaits the Hawks, who have now strung together four consecutive wins.
At Beischer No. 1, undefeated Strathdale had to settle for a draw for the second week in a row.
The Blues’ nil-all draw against Shepparton South followed a 3-3 draw the previous week against Tatura.
They will face a tricky encounter against Colts United this Saturday at Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve.
Shepparton United maintained the pressure on the two sides above it on the ladder with a 5-2 victory against Epsom.
United’s Ermal Marku joined Tatura’s Sean Grant at the top of the goal scorers’ table with a hat-trick of goals against the Scorpions.
Raven Shaholli and Ghulum Hassani each finished the game with one goal for United, while Pa Naing Paw and Cooper Arkinstall were the scorers for the Scorpions.
It was a productive day for Arkinstall, who scored four times in Epsom’s 11-1 youth championship win against United.
Goals to Sean Grant, Thomas Leech and Sean Coyle helped Tatura to a 3-0 win against Spring Gully United at Stanley Avenue.
At Moama, Mitchell Langenbacher and James Brown were the stars of Moama-Echuca Border Raiders’ big 6-0 win against Golden City.
Langenbacher scored a hat-trick, two of them coming via penalties, while Brown added two in an accomplished performance from the home side.
The win was the Border Raiders’ first for the season and lifted them from the bottom of the ladder for the first time since round seven.
In the men’s division two championship, Tatura maintained top spot with a 3-1 win against Tatura.
