Richmond used the breeze to its advantage in the first quarter and kicked 2.4 to Melbourne Uni’s no score.
Melbourne Uni hit back hard in the second quarter and from two scoring shots kicked two goals to cut Richmond’s lead to five points at the main break.
Melbourne Uni needed to find a way to put scoreboard pressure on against the breeze in the third quarter, but the Tigers dominated through the middle and off half-back.
The Tigers added 3.1 to no score to open up a match-winning four-goal lead. The Tigers then restricted Melbourne Uni to just one point in the final quarter.
