La Trobe Art Institute will host award-winning artist, curator and director of The Mulka Project, Wukun Wanambi along with Kade McDonald, Director of Hanging Valley and Executive Director of Durrmu Arts Aboriginal Corporation.

Wukun consulted on LAI’s current exhibition ‘Miwatj’ and will speak about his artwork, Yolngu culture and his recent collaboration with Kade, who spent nearly six years in Yirrkala, North-East Arnhem Land as coordinator at Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Art Centre.

Wukun and Kade have been working with Yinimala Gumana on a vast touring exhibition ‘Madayin’ showcasing seven decades of Yirrkala bark painting. ‘Madayin’ will tour the USA in 2020, in collaboration with the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia.
